About this role

Rocket Lab seeks a Flight Software Engineer II to develop flight software for spacecraft and space systems. You'll design and implement embedded software for sensors and actuators, conduct testing, and support on-orbit operations for missions launching within weeks to months.

What you'll do

  • Develop application software for Real Time Operating Systems (RTOS) and embedded Linux environments
  • Create hardware drivers for IMUs, Star Trackers, Reaction Wheels, and other spacecraft subsystems
  • Write and maintain comprehensive unit tests within a Continuous Integration framework
  • Collaborate with hardware-in-the-loop test engineers on software and hardware verification
  • Participate in design reviews (PDR, CDR) and code reviews to ensure coding standards compliance
  • Support on-orbit flight operations and interplanetary mission activities
