Saronic
Security Engineer, Network Security
About this role
Saronic Technologies seeks a Security Engineer to own network security across their maritime autonomy platform, spanning enterprise infrastructure, on-premises systems, AWS cloud, and vessel communications. You'll design and operate secure networks in a uniquely complex environment—from corporate offices to autonomous vessels—and build automation to enforce security at scale.
What you'll do
- Design and operate firewalls, segmentation, VPN/ZTNA, wireless, and device hardening across enterprise, on-prem, and production environments
- Architect secure AWS networks including VPC segmentation, private connectivity, and egress controls for commercial and GovCloud
- Secure vessel communications over cellular, RF, SATCOM, and mesh links with cryptography and key management for contested, low-bandwidth conditions
- Increase network visibility through flow logs, telemetry, and monitoring across all environments; support NOC buildout
- Automate network security controls including segmentation-as-code and configuration validation
- Transition enterprise from legacy VPN and flat-network patterns toward zero-trust architecture
What they're looking for
- Enterprise network security (Palo Alto, Cisco, Aruba firewalls)
- VPN and zero-trust technologies (GlobalProtect, Tailscale, WireGuard, IPsec)
- L3-L7 networking fundamentals (routing, BGP, TCP/UDP, TLS/PKI, DNS)
- AWS VPC design and cloud network security
- Cryptography and key management
- Network observability and SIEM tooling
- Infrastructure-as-Code and network automation
- SATCOM, RF, cellular, and mesh network design (preferred)
Benefits
- Comprehensive health insurance with Saronic paying 100% of employee premiums and 80% for dependents
- Dental insurance including routine check-ups and orthodontics
- Vision insurance coverage
- Opportunity to work on cutting-edge autonomous maritime technology
- Cross-functional partnership with engineering, operations, and security teams
- Role in designing security for genuinely novel, high-assurance environments
