About this role
Shield AI seeks a Staff Modeling & Simulation Engineer to build and advance the core simulation platform for next-generation VTOL aircraft. You'll develop simulation engines, deploy high-fidelity aircraft models in C++, and validate performance against real-world data to enable safe and rapid autonomous flight testing.
What you'll do
- Design and develop the simulation engine and aircraft models in C++ for VTOL platforms
- Integrate multiphysics and aeronautical systems knowledge into simulation architecture
- Validate simulation results against test data and vendor specifications for operational accuracy
- Support hardware-in-the-loop and mission autonomy simulation across engineering domains
- Conduct system performance analysis and optimization for stability and speed
- Collaborate with autonomy and flight test teams to evaluate autonomous algorithms at scale
