About this role

Space Kinetic seeks a Spacecraft System Safety & Mission Assurance Engineer to identify risks, assess hazardous conditions, and develop fault-protection strategies for innovative space vehicles. You'll partner across engineering disciplines to influence spacecraft architecture and ensure safe, reliable mission accomplishment throughout the program lifecycle.

What you'll do

  • Lead hazard analyses, fault tree analyses, failure modes and effects analyses, and other safety and risk assessments
  • Identify hazard causes, controls, verification methods, single-point failures, and cascading failure modes
  • Develop fault-protection concepts and requirements including detection, isolation, recovery, and safing strategies
  • Evaluate spacecraft responses to off-nominal conditions and coordinate fault-management across software, avionics, and operations
  • Translate safety objectives into clear, verifiable system and subsystem requirements with full traceability
  • Support anomaly investigations, root cause analyses, design reviews, and customer safety reviews
