Development Test Engineer, Battery (Starship Electronics)

About this role

SpaceX seeks a Development Test Engineer to design, build, and operate battery test stands for Starship vehicles, characterizing cell technologies across electrical and thermal conditions. You'll create test concepts, write automation software, and collaborate with design teams to push battery cells to failure and drive reliability improvements.

What you'll do

• Design test stand concepts, fabrication drawings, wiring schematics, and instrumentation lists
• Develop automation and data analysis software to collect and interpret results from diverse test setups
• Oversee test stand integration including fabrication, assembly, and control systems
• Operate test stands with meticulous attention to detail under high-stakes, low-margin conditions
• Partner with design engineers to understand hardware operating parameters and requirements
• Provide feedback to design, manufacturing, and test teams to enhance product reliability and infrastructure
