About this role

SpaceX seeks a Manufacturing Engineer to optimize inspection processes and design-for-manufacturability for Starship machining operations. You'll bridge engineering, production, and quality teams to enhance inspection efficiency, reduce cycle times, and maintain flight-readiness standards in a high-volume production environment.

What you'll do

Select and implement optimal inspection methods (CMMs, manual, automated systems) to maximize throughput and machine uptime
Develop automation opportunities and standardized processes to reduce inspection time and redundant checks
Maintain tight feedback loops between design, manufacturing, and quality teams to accelerate defect resolution
Refine engineering drawings with improved GD&T callouts and datum structures for repeatable measurements
Review out-of-tolerance conditions and approve dispositions to keep production flowing efficiently
Lead root cause investigations on non-conformances and implement corrective actions across the machine shop
