Manufacturing Engineer, Next-Gen Compute Systems (Starlink)
About this role
SpaceX seeks a Manufacturing Engineer to establish production processes for next-generation in-space compute systems (Vera Rubin). You will own end-to-end manufacturing workflows for high-density data racks, from design optimization through production ramp, working directly with senior leadership to build a new capability from the ground up.
What you'll do
- Design and implement electro-mechanical assembly and test processes with rapid iteration cycles
- Collaborate with design teams on design for manufacturability and test optimization
- Develop and implement automated optical inspection (AOI) systems for critical components
- Lead development builds and track production milestones for manufacturing ramp
- Monitor key metrics including production rate, cost, and quality across manufacturing systems
- Identify automation opportunities, design custom tooling, and evaluate ROI for process improvements
