Power Electronics Engineer - High Voltage (Starlink)

Redmond, WAmidAdded today

About this role

SpaceX seeks a Power Electronics Engineer to design and develop high-voltage DC-DC power supplies for Starlink gateway TWTA systems, managing the complete hardware lifecycle from concept through production while collaborating with cross-functional teams to advance next-generation RF power amplification technology.

What you'll do

  • Design and analyze kV-level DC-DC power converters optimized for harsh environments and high reliability
  • Own full hardware development cycle including prototyping, testing, integration, and production deployment
  • Conduct comprehensive verification testing and failure analysis for electrical power systems
  • Collaborate with RF, mechanical, and systems integration teams to define power electronics requirements
  • Perform electrical power system trade studies to optimize performance, efficiency, and reliability
  • Rapidly iterate on designs and test results to inform product direction and system-level decisions

What they're looking for

  • DC-DC converter design and topology selection
  • High-voltage power supply design (kilovolt-level systems)
  • Magnetics design including custom transformers and planar inductors
  • Power electronics modeling and simulation
  • Analog control and compensation design
  • Failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA)
  • Lab measurement techniques (impedance, loop-gain analysis)
  • Embedded systems and telemetry integration
