About this role

SpaceX seeks a Reliability Engineer to investigate and improve the reliability of Starshield satellite hardware by analyzing on-orbit failures, conducting root cause investigations, and collaborating across engineering disciplines. You'll translate spacecraft telemetry and test data into design and production improvements across the entire constellation.

What you'll do

  • Analyze and track on-orbit hardware failures across the Starshield satellite fleet
  • Lead root cause investigations for major on-orbit hardware anomalies
  • Collaborate with design, electrical, mechanical, thermal, software, test, and operations teams to eliminate failure sources
  • Build and deploy data analysis tools for on-orbit and ground test data
  • Develop monitoring systems to track constellation health
  • Drive reliability improvements through data-driven insights at design and production stages

What they're looking for

  • Python or SQL programming
  • Hardware troubleshooting and failure analysis
  • Time series data analysis and reliability statistics
  • Root cause analysis methodology
  • Understanding of electronic, mechanical, or optical failure mechanisms
  • Environmental testing experience (HALT/HASS, thermal, vibration, space effects)
  • Cross-functional team collaboration
  • C/C++ programming (preferred)

Benefits

  • Medical, vision, and dental coverage
