About this role

SpaceX seeks a Test Engineer specializing in high-pressure oxygen systems for Starship development. You'll design, fabricate, and execute test campaigns for oxygen propellant hardware, managing everything from material-level flammability assessment to full subsystem qualification while ensuring safety and reliability.

What you'll do

  • Design and execute material, component, and subsystem-level tests to evaluate hardware performance and mission survivability
  • Develop novel test capabilities to assess material and component flammability in high-pressure oxygen environments
  • Own complete test campaigns including planning, system activation, operations, data review, and stand equipment design
  • Supervise technicians on fabrication and integration of test articles and stand equipment
  • Operate National Instruments-based data acquisition systems, instrumentation, and mechanical/fluid systems handling cryogenics and hypergolics
  • Identify system hazards and anomalies, then collaborate with design engineers on hardware improvements

  • High-pressure and hazardous fluid system operation (cryogenic, hypergolic, flammable)
  • National Instruments DAQ systems and instrumentation (transducers, thermocouples, strain gauges, etc.)
  • 3D CAD modeling (Siemens NX, Inventor, or CATIA)
  • Programming/scripting (Python, MATLAB, C++, or similar)
  • Technical documentation and procedure writing
  • Root cause analysis and anomaly investigation
  • Mechanical and structural systems troubleshooting
