Chief Engineer

About this role

Sphinx seeks an experienced Chief Engineer to serve as technical authority for a software-focused SATCOM space-ground program. You'll provide engineering leadership across the full system lifecycle, manage technical strategy and risk, and act as the primary technical interface between Sphinx, government stakeholders, and partners.

What you'll do

• Serve as technical authority for space-ground SATCOM program, guiding architecture, engineering decisions, and technical baselines
• Lead development of system and ground segment architectures supporting mission performance, scalability, and long-term sustainment
• Define and maintain technical roadmaps, system architectures, interface strategies, and engineering standards
• Author and manage Space-to-Ground Interface Control Documents (ICDs) ensuring payload-to-ground compatibility
• Drive cross-functional collaboration between software, systems engineering, cybersecurity, integration & test teams
• Manage technical risks, dependencies, and constraints while mentoring engineers across the organization
