Chief Engineer

About this role

Sphinx seeks an experienced Chief Engineer to lead technical strategy and execution for a software-focused space-ground SATCOM program. You'll serve as the primary technical authority, guiding architecture decisions, managing cross-functional teams, and ensuring mission success while interfacing with government stakeholders and partner organizations.

What you'll do

• Provide technical authority and guidance on system architecture, engineering decisions, and risk management for space-ground SATCOM programs
• Develop and evolve system architectures supporting mission performance, scalability, resiliency, and long-term sustainment
• Define technical roadmaps, interface strategies, and engineering standards across the program
• Author and maintain Space-to-Ground Interface Control Documents (ICDs) for payload and ground system compatibility
• Lead cross-functional collaboration between software, systems engineering, cybersecurity, and integration teams
• Mentor engineers and support proposal efforts and customer engagements
