Propulsion Engineer
About this role
Stratolaunch seeks an experienced Propulsion Engineer to serve as the Solid Rocket Motor Responsible Engineer, overseeing SRM design, development, testing, and integration for hypersonic flight testbeds. You will manage supplier relationships, conduct technical analyses, and ensure requirements are met from development through flight operations.
What you'll do
- Manage SRM requirements, interfaces, and technical performance throughout design, development, testing, assembly, and flight operations
- Provide oversight of SRM supplier activities and coordinate weekly technical reviews and design meetings
- Travel to supplier facilities and test ranges to observe manufacturing processes, testing, and flight operations
- Conduct ballistics, thermal, and combustion analyses to verify supplier work and develop performance models for GN&C
- Analyze post-test data and interpret results in cooperation with suppliers
- Coordinate SRM deliveries, receiving inspections, and ground support equipment design and requirements
