Backend Engineer, Privy

About this role

Privy, a Stripe-backed company, is seeking an experienced Backend Engineer to design and build scalable infrastructure for wallet, identity, and blockchain systems. You'll develop core platform APIs and primitives that empower developers while working with modern technologies in a fast-paced, security-conscious environment.

What you'll do

• Design and build backend systems powering wallets, identity, and onchain infrastructure at scale
• Create platform primitives and APIs enabling cross-team development
• Lead complex technical initiatives across architecture, data, and distributed systems
• Improve scalability, reliability, and performance of the core platform
• Shape technical direction through high-leverage engineering work
• Write maintainable, well-tested, modular code while balancing speed

• Production system design and maintenance at scale
• Modern API development and design best practices
• Database modeling, migrations, and infrastructure configuration
• Node.js backend development
• Distributed systems and data architecture
• Technical documentation and communication
• Blockchain protocol knowledge (preferred)
• Authentication and security expertise (preferred)
