Performance Engineer - Benchmarking
About this role
Supabase is seeking a Performance Engineer to build and own benchmarking, profiling, and load-testing systems that help product teams detect regressions and measure performance rigorously. You'll establish baselines, create regression detection mechanisms, and enable the organization to publish credible performance metrics while partnering with database and product teams to drive concrete improvements.
What you'll do
- Design and maintain benchmarking, profiling, and load-testing tooling across cloud, database, and end-to-end systems
- Define benchmark suites and reference workloads that reflect real customer usage patterns
- Establish performance baselines and regression gates with variance tracking and environment control
- Build triage workflows and reporting mechanisms that translate benchmark results into actionable insights
- Partner with database teams to identify bottlenecks and validate performance improvements
- Enable product teams to self-serve performance testing and integrate benchmarks into CI/CD pipelines
