Torc Robotics

Software Engineer, II - Autonomy Data

Remote - US, Blacksburg, VA (Remote)From $166.8kmidAdded yesterday

About this role

Torc is seeking a Software Engineer II specializing in autonomy data infrastructure to design and build pipelines that process high-bandwidth sensor logs from autonomous trucks into curated datasets for AI model training. This high-impact role on a lean team involves managing data lakes, implementing ingestion systems, and creating visualization tools that enable perception and planning engineers to develop autonomous driving software.

What you'll do

  • Design and maintain data lake architecture including schema definitions, partitioning strategies, and metadata indexing for autonomous vehicle sensor data
  • Build end-to-end ingestion pipelines that reliably transfer high-bandwidth sensor logs from vehicles to cloud storage with fault tolerance
  • Implement data validation checks to detect corruption, missing sensors, and calibration inconsistencies before downstream processing
  • Develop tooling for querying raw logs to produce curated training and evaluation datasets, plus automation for pseudo-labeling workflows
  • Deploy and maintain data visualization tools for log review, annotation QA, and autonomy debugging with custom integrations
  • Establish data contracts and collaborate with perception, planning, and embedded engineers across the data lifecycle

What they're looking for

  • Python and SQL for production-quality data pipeline development
  • AWS cloud infrastructure (S3, Glue, Athena, Redshift) or equivalents
  • Infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation)
  • Data partitioning strategies and columnar storage formats (Parquet, ORC)
  • Sensor data processing and handling high-bandwidth ingestion
  • Data validation and quality assurance frameworks
  • Dashboard and visualization tool development
  • Cross-functional collaboration and technical communication
