About this role

Varda seeks an embedded Linux engineer in C++ to develop reliable flight software for spacecraft, satellite buses, and reentry capsules operating in low Earth orbit. You'll own the full software development lifecycle—from requirements and design through testing and orbital operations—for safety-critical systems that enable in-space manufacturing.

What you'll do

  • Develop and maintain flight software for spacecraft and reentry capsule operations in orbit
  • Write structured bare metal, RTOS, and Linux-based embedded software in C++
  • Lead design, testing, integration, and verification/validation of safety-critical systems
  • Capture requirements and conduct design trades for open-ended spacecraft problems
  • Perform software test, verification, and validation to ensure system quality and performance
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot and solve technical challenges

  • C++ development with strong language fundamentals
  • Embedded Linux and bare metal/RTOS programming
  • Spacecraft or safety-critical software development (3+ years)
  • Real-time embedded systems design and testing
  • Software verification, validation, and test methodologies
  • Requirements capture and systems design
  • CCSDS telemetry/telecommand or F'/cFS frameworks (preferred)
  • SPI, I2C, CAN, EtherCAT communication protocols (preferred)
