About this role
Varda seeks an experienced Embedded Software Engineer II to develop and maintain reliable flight software for spacecraft, satellite buses, and reentry capsules operating in low Earth orbit. You'll own the complete software lifecycle—from requirements and design through testing and on-orbit operations—working with bare metal, RTOS, and Linux systems to ensure mission-critical reliability.
What you'll do
- Develop and maintain firmware controlling spacecraft, satellite bus, and reentry capsule behavior throughout the mission
- Own full software development lifecycle including design, testing, integration, and verification
- Capture requirements and conduct design trades for open-ended problems
- Write structured, high-quality C++ code for embedded processors (bare metal, RTOS, or Linux)
- Design and implement highly reliable, fault-tolerant software systems
- Execute software verification, validation, and testing to ensure quality and performance
