About this role
Vast seeks a Design Reliability Engineer to establish and oversee engineering standards, design reviews, and qualification processes for human-rated artificial-gravity space stations. You'll lead technical governance, mentor engineering teams, and ensure rigorous compliance across the Haven Station program while supporting rapid development cycles.
What you'll do
- Lead design reviews and technical assessments at major program milestones, providing decisive guidance on risk management
- Oversee qualification and test campaigns for flight systems, ensuring human-rated reliability standards are met
- Develop and maintain engineering standards, design guides, review templates, and compliance frameworks
- Evaluate design changes and operational modifications to preserve technical integrity across the station architecture
- Partner with configuration management, software teams, and subsystem engineers to embed reliability practices organization-wide
- Track design maturity and identify risks early through engineering intuition and systematic assessment
