About this role

Vast is hiring a Propulsion Test Engineer in Mojave, California to support the development of propulsion systems for artificial-gravity space stations. You'll conduct hot-fire testing, lead hazardous operations, write test procedures, and collaborate with engineers to maintain and improve test stand infrastructure.

What you'll do

  • Perform thruster development, acceptance and qualification hot-fire testing
  • Lead hazardous operations involving high-pressure fluids and write associated test procedures
  • Prepare and lead Test Readiness Reviews (TRRs) to ensure safety and readiness
  • Work with test stand technicians during test article installation and inspection
  • Maintain and design modifications to test stand fluid and electrical systems
  • Collaborate with Long Beach-based engineers to meet test requirements and debug issues

  • Hardware testing and troubleshooting
  • High-pressure fluid system design and construction
  • CAD software (NX) and PLM (Teamcenter)
  • Controls and data acquisition systems (Beckhoff/TwinCAT, LabVIEW)
  • Plumbing and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
  • Tube fitting, bending, and industry fitting systems
