About this role
Vast is hiring a Thermal Fluids Design Reliability Engineer to ensure Haven-1's thermal, environmental control, and life support systems are designed and validated for safe, reliable human-rated space station operations. You'll integrate reliability principles into design, lead FMEA and verification activities, and guide teams from concept through flight readiness.
What you'll do
- Lead Failure Modes and Effects Analysis and guide test plan definition for thermal fluids systems
- Conduct design reviews and provide technical peer review of hardware designs, manufacturing drawings, and test campaigns
- Develop thermal fluids engineering standards, design guides, and verification frameworks for Haven-1
- Work with hardware teams to ensure manufacturing meets design intent and define test methodologies
- Establish acceptance and qualification test standards for flight systems aligned with human-rated reliability
- Analyze field data and design robustness to identify and prevent failures before production
