About this role
Lead the design and development of Vercel's next-generation data platform as a Staff Engineer, architecting scalable systems that power analytics, AI/ML, and core business operations. You'll define technical vision, mentor engineers, and work cross-functionally to align data infrastructure with product goals using modern technologies like Kafka, ClickHouse, and Snowflake.
What you'll do
- Design and implement a scalable data platform supporting batch, real-time, and analytics workloads using Kafka, ClickHouse, Tinybird, and Snowflake
- Architect solutions across engineering, product, and leadership teams to align technical strategy with business objectives
- Define data governance, ingestion, modeling, ETL, and warehousing standards to ensure low-latency analytics and storage efficiency
- Mentor engineers and set engineering excellence standards through hands-on code and architectural guidance
- Ensure data security, compliance, high availability, and fault tolerance through monitoring and incident response
- Collaborate with data scientists and ML teams to evolve infrastructure supporting advanced analytics and AI workloads
