Software Engineer, Financial Data Platform
About this role
Vercel seeks a Software Engineer to architect and lead the Financial Data Platform, building the foundational systems that power revenue reporting, consumption-based billing, financial forecasting, and compliance. You'll design financial-grade data infrastructure using modern technologies like Kafka, ClickHouse, and Snowflake, reporting to the Senior Director of Data Engineering and partnering closely with Finance, Accounting, and RevOps teams.
What you'll do
- Design and implement data pipelines supporting revenue recognition, consumption-based billing, and financial reporting across batch and real-time workloads using Kafka and streaming technologies
- Partner with Finance, FP&A, Accounting, and RevOps to translate reporting requirements, close cycles, and forecasting needs into scalable technical architecture
- Define standards for financial data ingestion, transformation, and storage with focus on auditability, lineage, and integrity across ClickHouse, Tinybird, and Snowflake
- Mentor engineers on technical excellence and the rigor required when data feeds into financial statements
- Ensure compliance with SOX, SOC 2, and regulatory requirements while establishing high availability, fault tolerance, and comprehensive monitoring
- Evaluate build-vs-buy decisions for financial and billing tools, and establish multi-phase roadmap for platform maturity aligned with company growth
