About this role
Verisign seeks a software engineer with 8+ years of experience to design and maintain network automation tools, build RPKI/BGP routing security systems at scale, and develop observability infrastructure for mission-critical internet services. The role focuses on network orchestration, infrastructure monitoring, and operational automation in a hybrid Reston, VA position.
What you'll do
- Design and build deployment, testing, and operational tools for network infrastructure
- Research and integrate industry best practices in network orchestration and configuration management
- Develop RPKI validation, ROA management, and BGP origin validation systems at scale
- Expand monitoring infrastructure with data visualization using NetFlow and Streaming Telemetry
- Implement auto-remediation functions to monitor and recover from network events
- Build routing infrastructure observability tooling and document systems with runbooks

- Network routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, VRRP, DHCP)
- RPKI, ROV, ASPA, and PKI infrastructure
- APIs and data serialization (REST, JSON, XML, YAML)
- Software development language proficiency
- Linux and Docker containers
- Network automation platforms (Ansible, Salt)
- Time-series databases (Prometheus, InfluxDB, OpenTSDB)
- IPv6 and infrastructure protocols (TCP, UDP, DNS, HTTP)
