Backend Engineer - Connectivity
About this role
Join Verkada's Connectivity Team as a Backend Engineer to build scalable distributed systems powering IoT gateways, security trailers, and environmental sensors deployed globally. You'll architect high-performance microservices handling hundreds of thousands of devices while working across cloud infrastructure, databases, and messaging systems.
What you'll do
- Build and maintain scalable distributed systems for global device connectivity and management
- Design low-latency, high-throughput microservice architectures using Python and/or Go
- Work with Redis, DynamoDB, Postgres, Kafka, and SQS to handle massive concurrent traffic
- Deploy and manage services on Kubernetes using Terraform for infrastructure-as-code
- Develop remote device configuration and command systems for hundreds of thousands of endpoints
- Collaborate with embedded and frontend teams on end-to-end connectivity solutions
