Chief Engineer
About this role
Lead the technical design and development of vertical takeoff and landing (VTVL) systems for advanced space missions. As Chief Engineer, you'll oversee multidisciplinary teams, manage system architecture and performance margins, and serve as the primary technical authority for mission-critical programs from concept through flight operations.
What you'll do
- Own vehicle technical architecture, design philosophy, requirements, and performance allocations across all subsystems
- Serve as senior technical authority providing independent judgment on design decisions, waivers, risks, and mission readiness
- Lead vehicle-level design and development from concept through qualification, testing, and operational deployment
- Manage vehicle performance and technical margins (mass, propellant, thrust-to-weight, structural/thermal, power, communications)
- Identify and retire technical risks through early testing of high-risk technologies and failure modes
- Partner with manufacturing, test, and operations teams to ensure designs are manufacturable, testable, and operationally viable
