About this role
Waymo seeks a Machine Learning Engineer to develop and optimize perception models for autonomous driving. You'll own end-to-end ML tasks, analyze real-world driving behavior, and build systems for continuous learning from millions of miles of sensor data across distributed infrastructure.
What you'll do
- Own ML tasks in the Waymo Driver and develop methods to scale and improve task performance
- Analyze ML system behavior in production, identify root causes, and develop solutions
- Create distributed fine-tuning methods enabling multiple developers to improve models simultaneously
- Monitor ML systems in production and develop automated issue detection and debugging tools
- Develop and maintain model evaluation recipes and metrics for pre-trained and fine-tuned models
