About this role
Waymo seeks an experienced Mechanical Engineer to develop hardware solutions for autonomous driving technology, from concept through mass production. You'll design sensor and perception modules using advanced CAD tools while collaborating across electrical, manufacturing, and vehicle teams to meet performance, cost, and reliability requirements.
What you'll do
- Drive mechanical design through full product lifecycle from concept and prototyping to tooling and production
- Design robust components considering performance, cost, reliability, thermals, EMI/EMC, and IP-ratings
- Collaborate with electrical, manufacturing, vehicle, and industrial design teams on integrated module development
- Manage tolerance analysis, GD&T, BOMs, and PLM release processes for scalable production
- Apply physics-based problem solving to structural, thermal, and optical design constraints
- Source and develop hardware with international suppliers

- 3D CAD proficiency (Catia V6 and/or Solidworks)
- Mechanical design of metal, plastic, and elastomer parts
