About this role

Waymo is hiring a Vehicle Product Engineer to lead quality planning and ensure compliance for autonomous vehicle launches. You'll oversee APQP/PPAP processes, conduct root cause analysis on manufacturing issues, and drive continuous improvement across vehicle hardware and firmware components.

What you'll do

  • Lead Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) for new vehicle launches
  • Verify compliance with Engineering Requirement Specifications and specification matrices throughout vehicle development
  • Collaborate with OEMs and cross-functional teams to ensure quality standards and improve product reliability
  • Conduct root cause analysis on vehicle quality issues using 8D, 5-Why, and Ishikawa methodologies
  • Analyze field warranty data and defect rates to identify trends and drive corrective actions
  • Establish quality processes, FMEAs, Control Plans, and inspection SOPs to support hardware freeze and safe launch
