About this role

Wayve is seeking an Applied Scientist or Machine Learning Engineer to own the data engine powering their autonomous driving foundation models. You'll focus on intelligently curating, enriching, and evaluating real-world fleet data to accelerate model improvement and generalization across geographies and platforms.

What you'll do

  • Mine world-scale fleet data for rare, long-tail, and safety-critical events using active learning and smart sampling techniques
  • Determine what training data compositions actually improve model performance and operationalize curation across cities and sensor types
  • Build automated enrichment and labeling pipelines with rigorous data quality standards at scale
  • Design and execute rigorous offline and closed-loop evaluation metrics that correlate with real on-road behavior and safety
  • Build and fine-tune large-scale pretrained models including vision-language-action and world models for embodied AI
  • Contribute to the broader foundation model stack including policy learning, reinforcement learning, and reward modeling

What they're looking for

  • Machine learning and software engineering fundamentals
  • Data curation and active learning
  • Large-scale model training and fine-tuning
  • Evaluation and metrics design for autonomous systems
  • Vision-language models and multimodal learning
  • Production ML systems at scale
  • Reinforcement learning and reward modeling
  • Python and ML frameworks
