Safety System Engineer

About this role

Wayve seeks an experienced Safety System Engineer to lead functional safety activities for autonomous driving systems across multiple vehicle platforms. You'll conduct risk assessments, develop safety concepts, define system architectures, and build comprehensive safety cases while collaborating with internal teams and external partners.

What you'll do

• Lead functional safety activities for autonomous driving systems and their integration into vehicle platforms
• Conduct risk assessments (HARAs, FMEAs, FTAs) and develop safety mitigation concepts
• Define system architecture and derive software and hardware requirements based on safety concepts
• Support software teams in implementing safety requirements and define multi-level test specifications
• Build structured safety cases using claims, arguments, and evidence paradigm
• Update safety processes with compliance teams for certification activities

What they're looking for

• ISO 26262 functional safety development (5+ years experience)
• Vehicle-level testing at proving grounds for safety validation
• ISO 26262-6 software development and tool qualification
• Supplier management for safety-critical components
• Autonomous driving safety case development
• Computer vision and neural network safety assurance knowledge
• SOTIF (Safety of the Intended Functionality) expertise
• Operational safety and public road testing procedures
