Systems Engineer, Robotaxi

Sunnyvale$209.7k–$311.4kmidAdded 2 days ago

About this role

Wayve seeks an experienced Systems Engineer to translate Robotaxi architecture into implementable specifications and requirements. You'll own defined technical scopes—such as vehicle/ADS interfaces or fleet integration—working closely with internal architects and external partners (OEMs, Tier1s, operators) to define system boundaries and drive technical design decisions.

What you'll do

  • Own systems engineering for defined Robotaxi architecture areas (e.g., vehicle interfaces, Remote Assistance boundaries, fleet integration)
  • Convert use cases and operational concepts into system requirements, interfaces, and verification-ready specifications
  • Collaborate directly with OEM, Tier1, and operator partners to define system and product boundaries through technical discussions
  • Apply reference architecture to real vehicle programs across sensors, compute, ECU topology, and degraded-operation behavior
  • Support implementation via technical reviews, bring-up planning, issue triage, and design-change impact analysis
  • Escalate cross-domain trade-offs to lead architect and relevant stakeholders

What they're looking for

  • Robotaxi or L4 autonomous system design and integration
  • Systems engineering across hardware, embedded software, autonomy, and safety
  • Requirements engineering and functional decomposition
  • Vehicle platform and robotic system integration
  • Multi-stakeholder communication and technical partnership management
  • Driver-out safety concepts (redundancy, degraded operation, functional safety, SOTIF)
  • Automotive E/E architecture and protocols
  • Technical documentation and architecture review facilitation

Likely interview questions

  • Walk us through a Robotaxi or L4 system you've worked on—what were the key architectural boundaries you helped define?
  • How have you translated complex operational concepts into testable system requirements in a production autonomous vehicle program?
