About this role

webAI is seeking senior and staff engineers to build distributed, edge-based AI infrastructure with a focus on CRDT-based data synchronization and peer-to-peer networking. You'll design resilient systems that bring AI computation closer to data sources while maintaining security, privacy, and reliability across resource-constrained and intermittently-connected environments.

What you'll do

  • Design and implement advanced synchronization and networking systems using CRDTs, Merkle trees, and content addressable storage for distributed AI operations
  • Lead performance optimization, debugging, and tuning of distributed systems under resource constraints and intermittent connectivity
  • Architect secure data synchronization frameworks with threat modeling, cryptographic protocols, and secure key management
  • Collaborate with MLOps, Infrastructure, and Security teams to deploy AI components in air-gapped or restricted systems
  • Contribute to cross-functional architectural design discussions and documentation for stakeholders
  • Establish rigorous testing, observability, and validation practices to ensure system reliability and compliance
