About this role

ALTEN Technology USA seeks a Hardware Design Engineer to develop embedded electronic systems for automotive applications in Auburn Hills, Michigan. You'll design, validate, and troubleshoot complex hardware solutions while collaborating across systems, software, mechanical, and manufacturing teams throughout the product lifecycle.

What you'll do

  • Design, develop, and validate embedded hardware solutions for automotive electronic systems
  • Support hardware architecture development, schematic design, and PCB layout activities
  • Perform hardware debugging, testing, validation, and root cause analysis of electrical issues
  • Conduct technical reviews and provide engineering recommendations for performance and reliability improvements
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support system integration and product development
  • Support compliance with automotive standards, functional safety objectives, and customer requirements

  • Embedded electronic hardware design and development
  • Schematic capture and PCB layout (Altium Designer preferred)
  • EMI/EMC design principles and troubleshooting
  • Automotive communication protocols (CAN, LIN, Ethernet, LVDS)
  • Functional Safety (ISO 26262) and automotive standards knowledge
  • Hardware bring-up, debugging, and failure analysis
  • Electrical laboratory equipment operation (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers)
  • Power Integrity and Signal Integrity analysis (preferred)
