About this role

Join Anduril's Maritime Division as a Software Engineer to architect and deliver integrated software systems for next-generation autonomous underwater and maritime platforms. You'll own end-to-end software solutions spanning autonomy, simulation, command & control, and payload integration while working across the full product lifecycle in a fast-paced defense technology environment.

What you'll do

  • Design and implement scalable, full-lifecycle software for autonomous maritime platforms and command systems
  • Own deployed software solutions that balance end-user needs with multi-stakeholder constraints and requirements
  • Develop on-board and off-board software using various technologies, including autonomy and data processing components
  • Create test fixtures and simulation environments with software- and hardware-in-the-loop capabilities
  • Lead technical ownership of software services, including stakeholder engagement, roadmap management, and team coordination
  • Support vehicle manufacturing, deployment, and field operations with up to 20% travel

What they're looking for

  • Systems and application programming (algorithms, data structures, concurrency, scaling)
  • Software design and system architecture
  • C++, Rust, or backend/embedded systems programming
  • Testing, infrastructure, and lifecycle development processes
  • Troubleshooting and analyzing remotely deployed software systems
  • Autonomy and sensor fusion concepts
  • Simulation and hardware-in-the-loop testing
  • Technical mentorship and cross-functional collaboration

Benefits

  • Work on billion-dollar defense contracts with national strategic impact
  • Access to cutting-edge autonomy, AI, and sensor fusion technology
  • Opportunity to mentor and lead multi-disciplinary engineering teams
  • Full product lifecycle ownership from design through customer deployment
  • Exposure to innovative autonomous platforms (Dive-XL, Copperhead, Seabed Sentry, etc.)

Likely interview questions

  • Describe your experience troubleshooting and maintaining software systems deployed in remote or operationally challenging environments—how did you approach identifying and resolving issues?
  • Tell us about a time you owned a software service end-to-end, including its architecture, implementation, and evolution—what was your approach to balancing technical excellence with user needs?
