About this role

Northwood seeks a Ground Software Engineer to develop mission-critical software for satellite ground stations, handling telemetry and command data processing across their global network. You'll implement CCSDS protocols, build real-time data pipelines, and own systems from design through operational deployment in support of national security and global connectivity missions.

What you'll do

  • Design and maintain software for ingesting, processing, and routing satellite telemetry, tracking, and command data
  • Implement and validate CCSDS protocols including space packets, transfer frames, and data encapsulation
  • Develop high-performance data pipelines connecting software-defined radios and ground-station infrastructure
  • Build tooling for packet parsing, frame validation, monitoring, recording, and debugging
  • Translate customer mission requirements into configurable data-handling workflows and interfaces
  • Collaborate with DSP and FPGA teams on physical-layer and software interfaces; test with simulated and live satellite data
