About this role

Antares is seeking a Materials Engineer II to develop and qualify materials for advanced nuclear microreactors. You'll design experiments, conduct testing, characterize materials under extreme conditions, and collaborate across engineering teams to optimize materials performance for terrestrial, underwater, and space applications.

What you'll do

  • Develop and qualify reactor materials through lifetime testing, cross-institutional collaboration, and property evaluation
  • Design and conduct physical, thermal, and mechanical testing that replicates reactor operating environments
  • Apply statistical methods to evaluate process variables and environmental effects on material properties
  • Perform materials characterization and root cause analysis of failure modes
  • Interface with manufacturing, neutronics, mechanical, and quality teams to integrate materials into systems and optimize processes
