About this role
Antimetal seeks a Research Engineer to develop AI agents that detect, diagnose, and fix infrastructure issues. You'll prototype novel approaches in infrastructure intelligence and autonomous agents, build evaluation systems, and drive research from experimentation to production deployment.
What you'll do
- Run experiments across infrastructure intelligence, autonomous agents, and evaluation research areas
- Design and build evaluation infrastructure including benchmarks, offline pipelines, and synthetic data generation
- Explore and apply cutting-edge AI agent and ML techniques to infrastructure problem domains
- Collaborate with platform and product teams to productionize prototypes into scalable services
- Develop techniques for anomaly detection, telemetry analysis, and causality understanding in complex systems
- Advance multi-step reasoning, orchestration, and reinforcement learning for autonomous agents
What they're looking for
- Applied machine learning and research engineering with 4+ years experience
- Production experience with agentic/LLM systems and multi-step reasoning
- ML fundamentals: statistical modeling, probabilistic methods, time-series analysis
- End-to-end evaluation pipeline construction and experimentation methodology
- Python and TypeScript proficiency with ML libraries and data engineering tools
- Prototype-to-production development and data-driven decision making
- Problem-solving with focus on maintainable, scalable code
- Comfort with ambiguity and iterative development
