About this role
Apex seeks a Spacecraft Build Engineer to develop and scale manufacturing processes for commercial satellite buses in Los Angeles. You'll bridge design and production, optimizing tooling, assembly, and integration across propulsion, avionics, and structural systems to enable high-rate spacecraft manufacturing.
What you'll do
- Develop and qualify manufacturing processes for spacecraft components and assemblies
- Design precision tooling and fixtures to improve quality, repeatability, and cycle time
- Optimize production workflows to increase throughput and reduce takt time
- Lead hardware transition from development into production environments
- Partner with design engineering on design-for-manufacturability and vehicle architecture
- Troubleshoot manufacturing issues and drive root cause analysis and corrective actions

- Manufacturing process development
- Tooling and fixture design (CAD: SolidWorks, NX, or equivalent)
- Design for manufacturability (DFM/DFMA)
- Manufacturing techniques (welding, machining, forming, fastening, bonding)

- Production troubleshooting in fast-paced environments
- Cross-functional project leadership
