Applied Intuition
Drone Stack - Hardware Engineer
About this role
Applied Intuition seeks a Senior Robotics Hardware Engineer to lead drone system integration, bridging autopilot firmware, onboard compute, and sensors from bench to flight. You'll design hardware-software interfaces, build HIL/SIL testing frameworks, and ensure seamless communication across flight controllers and ground stations for autonomous systems.
What you'll do
- Lead hardware-software bring-up and validation of flight systems from bench to airfield operations
- Define and manage system interfaces between flight controllers, payloads, and ground stations
- Design and scale automated testing frameworks including Hardware-in-the-Loop and Software-in-the-Loop environments
- Build real-time monitoring tools and post-flight analysis systems for system diagnostics
- Serve as technical authority bridging hardware design, GNC, and software teams
- Support flight test campaigns with hands-on troubleshooting and mission-critical problem-solving
What they're looking for
- Autopilot firmware integration (PX4, ArduPilot)
- C++ and Python programming
- Communication protocols (CAN, UART, I2C, SPI, MAVLink)
- Hardware abstraction layers and real-time embedded systems
- Hardware-in-the-Loop and Software-in-the-Loop simulation
- Vehicle electronics and sensor integration
- System-level troubleshooting and bring-up
- Onboard compute platforms (NVIDIA Jetson, Raspberry Pi)
