Applied Intuition
Hardware Systems Engineer, VOS
About this role
Applied Intuition seeks a Hardware Systems Engineer to define system, hardware, and electrical requirements for a strategic new product. You'll decompose vehicle-level requirements, architect test infrastructure, and establish model-based processes using tools like Cameo and Polarion—focusing on requirements and architecture rather than hands-on board design.
What you'll do
- Decompose vehicle-level requirements into system, hardware, and electrical requirements with clear traceability
- Define electrical architecture for test benches, HIL rigs, and validation infrastructure including power, wiring, instrumentation, and sensor emulation
- Build and maintain functional and logical architecture models in Cameo (SysML/MBSE) with variant management
- Establish ASPICE Level 2 compliance processes and configure Polarion and Cameo for requirements and architecture management
- Coordinate verification and validation strategies across teams; maintain end-to-end traceability from user needs to test cases
- Partner cross-functionally with hardware, software, autonomy, and test teams to ensure requirements alignment
What they're looking for
- Systems engineering and requirements decomposition/allocation
- Model-based systems engineering (MBSE) and SysML
- Cameo (architecture modeling) and Polarion (requirements management)
- Electrical/electronics systems design and test infrastructure
- Hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) and bench/rig definition
- Functional safety standards (ISO 26262) and ASPICE compliance
- Robotics or autonomous systems knowledge
- Cross-functional collaboration and technical communication

Likely interview questions
- Walk us through a time you decomposed a high-level system requirement into hardware and subsystem requirements—what was challenging?
- How have you used MBSE tools like Cameo or similar to manage complex product architectures, and what traceability challenges did you encounter?
