About this role
SpaceX seeks an OS/Platform Software Engineer to develop and maintain Linux-based software for Starlink satellites and ground systems. You'll work on bootloaders, security implementations, device drivers, and software updates for next-generation space-grade hardware, bridging hardware bring-up with on-orbit operations.
What you'll do
- Maintain customized versions of Linux, Buildroot, and u-boot for spacecraft systems
- Implement and support secure boot and runtime security for satellite components
- Develop and test spacecraft software update mechanisms and deployment processes
- Create and maintain device drivers for custom and third-party silicon components
- Design and support Ethernet network connectivity and management across satellite systems
- Collaborate with hardware and application teams to transition components from prototype to production
