About this role
Astera Institute seeks a software engineer to architect core infrastructure for large-scale distributed simulation systems spanning biological and physics-based environments. You'll work on high-performance C++ systems, networking protocols, and optimization across CPUs, GPUs, and clusters.
What you'll do
- Design and implement distributed simulation systems with multi-node synchronization
- Build networking infrastructure for simulators and agent communication
- Optimize MuJoCo-based 3D physics environments for performance
- Develop infrastructure for biological system simulations at scale
- Profile and eliminate bottlenecks in networking, memory, and synchronization
- Engineer distributed execution systems spanning simulation, orchestration, and visualization
