About this role
Axon seeks a Mission Engineer II to embed with the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office and translate public safety operational challenges into technical solutions using Axon's platform, AI, and automation tools. This on-site role combines software engineering, customer discovery, and ongoing technical support to build and deploy meaningful improvements that drive measurable operational outcomes.
What you'll do
- Embed with the agency to understand workflows, systems, and priorities; translate operational friction into clear technical requirements
- Build applications, dashboards, workflows, and automations using Axon products, APIs, scripting, and AI-assisted tools
- Test solutions iteratively with end users and drive adoption until sustained operational value is achieved
- Serve as primary technical resource for the agency's Axon environment and coordinate complex technical issues across teams
- Document successful solutions and share learnings with other Mission Engineers to enable reuse across agencies
- Identify platform limitations and customer insights to feed back to Product and Engineering teams

- Software engineering fundamentals (APIs, scripting, testing, debugging, version control)
- Python, JavaScript, SQL, or similar programming languages
- Low-code/no-code development and workflow automation platforms
- AI concepts and AI-assisted development tools
- Cloud platform experience
- Technical problem-solving and ambiguous problem-solving
- Cross-functional communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Public safety or mission-critical environment familiarity
