About this role
Chalk is seeking its first Content and Docs lead to own technical documentation and developer education for an ML data platform. You'll make Chalk's complex features accessible through guides, diagrams, and AI-friendly content while treating docs as a measured product with continuous feedback loops.
What you'll do
- Build and scale comprehensive technical documentation including user guides, API references, and conceptual overviews
- Translate complex systems into clear, accessible writing by reading production code with precision
- Optimize content for LLM consumption so AI agents can generate working Chalk code reliably
- Create educational content through tutorials, diagrams, deep-dives, and runnable examples
- Establish feedback loops from support tickets and search logs to identify and close documentation gaps
- Ensure docs stay current by requiring product changes to ship with updated documentation and CI-tested examples
What they're looking for
- Technical writing and developer documentation (4+ years)
- Code fluency in Python, Rust, or similar languages
- Product thinking with focus on metrics and user outcomes
- Diagram design and visual communication
- Content optimization for AI search and LLM retrieval
- Markdown, Git workflows, and static site generators
- CI/CD pipelines and tested example infrastructure
- Information architecture and AI-native content design
