Associate Software Engineer
About this role
Defense Unicorns seeks an Associate Software Engineer to join their UDS Product Engineering team building mission-critical infrastructure for disconnected and edge environments. You'll develop features across their open-source platform portfolio—including data systems, fleet management, and deployment tooling—while growing your technical skills with guidance from experienced engineers.
What you'll do
- Deliver well-tested, maintainable code for scoped product features and bug fixes across UDS platform components
- Own small to medium tasks end-to-end from implementation through code review and production release
- Participate in design discussions and translate product requirements into technical solutions
- Contribute to documentation, runbooks, and technical guides for internal and open-source projects
- Debug production issues and participate in on-call rotation with team support
- Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and designers to integrate with defense systems

- Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or similar)
- Kubernetes concepts (Controllers, Operators, CRDs)
- Supply chain security (SBOMs, signing, scanning)
