About this role

DoorDash Labs is seeking a SLAM Engineer to advance autonomous delivery robot capabilities by developing production-grade mapping and localization systems. You'll architect HD mapping solutions and robust state estimation systems that work reliably in dynamic urban environments, collaborating across perception, hardware, and autonomy teams.

What you'll do

  • Architect and deploy production-grade SLAM systems for large-scale HD maps
  • Design and implement 3D registration pipelines for real-world, noisy large-scale environments
  • Develop robust state estimation systems for localization in real-world conditions
  • Partner cross-functionally with perception, hardware, and autonomy teams on integrated solutions
  • Own technical architecture and drive implementation direction

What they're looking for

  • C/C++ and Python programming
  • 3D geometry and spatial reasoning
  • LiDAR and/or vision-based 3D registration (ICP, feature-based, loop closure)
  • Large-scale non-linear optimization
  • State estimation (EKF/UKF, factor graphs, filtering/smoothing)
  • Deep learning algorithms (nice to have)
  • Multi-modal sensor fusion (lidar, camera, radar)
