Deployable Structures Test Engineer
About this role
E-Space seeks a Deployable Structures Test Engineer to lead ground deployment testing for large antenna systems destined for LEO satellites. You'll design and execute gravity-offload test campaigns, validate deployment mechanics, and ensure flight readiness through rigorous correlation and repeatability verification.
What you'll do
- Design and execute gravity-offload deployment test campaigns for large deployable antenna structures
- Characterize deployment kinematics and force profiles during test operations
- Establish ground-to-flight correlation and validate test data against flight performance
- Verify deployment repeatability and conformance to aperture geometry requirements
- Manage hands-on presence at test facilities in California and Texas
- Collaborate with mechanisms and structural teams to refine deployment procedures
What they're looking for
- Deployable structures and mechanisms design
- Gravity-offload test facility operations
- Test engineering and data acquisition
- Kinematics and dynamics analysis
- Structural testing and instrumentation
- Ground-to-flight correlation methodology
- Technical documentation and reporting
- Problem-solving in zero-gravity simulation
