About this role
Etched seeks a hands-on Mechanical DFM Engineer to lead design for manufacturing, supplier execution, and process validation for complex mechanical components in AI inference hardware. You'll drive tooling, automation, and inspection strategies across CNC machining, die casting, sheet metal, and stamping while ensuring suppliers meet quality, cost, and delivery targets for production ramp.
What you'll do
- Review and approve supplier tool designs, process flows, equipment selection, and DFM/DOE proposals across multiple fabrication methods
- Develop and qualify manufacturing processes for mechanical components; establish inspection strategies and metrology requirements
- Drive fixture, tooling, and automation development in partnership with suppliers
- Lead qualification builds (EVT/DVT/PVT), root cause analysis, and corrective actions to close yield and quality gaps
- Assess supplier readiness for builds and production ramp; identify risks and implement mitigation plans
- Plan and execute structured experiments (DOE) to improve cycle time, yield, cost, and process robustness
