About this role
Flexport seeks a Forward Deployed Engineer to embed directly with Fortune 500 supply chain clients, architecting and deploying full-stack software solutions and AI-driven optimization systems that solve real-world logistics challenges. You'll bridge engineering, operations research, and client strategy to deliver measurable ROI through production deployments across complex global trade workflows.
What you'll do
- Travel to client sites to map end-to-end supply chain processes, audit legacy systems, and translate operational constraints into technical architectures
- Design and build production solutions including customer applications, APIs, data pipelines, and workflow automations integrating with enterprise ERPs (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) and logistics systems
- Build and deploy production-grade AI applications, agentic LLM workflows, and decision engines for supply chain optimization
- Apply mathematical optimization algorithms to real-world logistics challenges such as routing, inventory positioning, and container utilization
- Drive 90-day deployment sprints from discovery through live production deployment, adoption, and ROI measurement
- Collaborate with Flexport core teams to productize field-tested solutions into reusable platform capabilities
